The parameters on the basis of which B Schools in India

have been categorized and ranked are given below.

Different B-schools can excel than others on different

parameters. It is important that stakeholders must know

the parameters and who are the best B-schools on what

parameter.

1. Infrastructure & facilities: Includes classroom, seminar

halls, library, hostel accommodation, cafeteria, sports

and recreation centres

2. Academic content & delivery: The strength of the faculty,

level of tutoring, mentoring, counseling, pedagogy,

special research centres.

3. Industry interaction opportunities: Number of visits

by the industry experts and close interaction of the students

with them.

4. Global exposure: This parameter includes factors

such as international visiting faculties, foreign tours and

students Exchange programme

5. Personality grooming & English

6. Computer to students, staff- student ratio

7. Placement

8. Social responsiveness and CSR activity: The B- school’s

response to do something meaningful for community

9. Support to students: In terms of their activities, leadership

and confidence

10. Technological savvy campus especially IT & online

support in terms of tutorials, journals, database, etc.:

Addresses questions such as how IT savvy the b school is

and how it makes it easy for students, open courseware

etc

11. Width and diversity in specialization disciplines:

How many different areas of training/courses a B school

provides like, biotech, E&C, fashion, media, hospitality,

hospital management, etc.

12. Events & Industry seminars: Includes importance

given to seminars and events and the extent of participation

of students

13. Innovation: innovation in adapting to changing business

scenarios and meeting such challenge through innovation

in curriculum, methodology and industry interface

14. Life skills training

15. Creative Methodology: The methodology used to

impart education and develop the skills in totality

16. Industry Integrated Programme: Number of industry

integrated programmes on offer

17. Location of the institute with respect to business hub

or metropolitan cities

In this analysis, we have not included the Gold category

B-Schools listed in our December ’08 issue. This is for the

simple reason that these institutes are the best with very

minor differences in their rankings on various parameters.
